For the past 18 years, she has worked passionately at educating and empowering professionals and learners. Her workshops on human resource employee assistance program (EAP), childhood developmental knowledge, chronic stress, and trauma has been known to captivate her audience of fellow educators and professionals. She creates opportunities for individuals to thoroughly examine their awareness, knowledge, and skills, including their systemic way of thinking to implement the best practices in the workplace. Participants have walked away from her workshops with opportunities to reflect and grow their appreciation for cultural differences and expand their critical cultural comprehension.
Her experience is vastly spread across industries as an advisory expert to many organizations providing workshops and consultations to Alameda Family Services, Office of Head Start (OHS) Review Teams, California Association for Education of Young Children (CAAEYC), Bay Area Network for Diversity Trainers in Early Childhood (BANDTEC), to name a few. She has led organizations to focus on topics such as cultural competence building, critical dialogues, child development, trauma and stress informed, and social/professional development all while fulfilling her career as a tenured professor in Human Services, Child Development, and Psychology at Modesto Jr. College.
Her style of instruction is practical and immediately applicable—allowing her to lead the charge of raising the bar for professionals through preparatory courses and skill-building workshops. Through her active practice and research, she has identified areas of opportunity for improvement on the mental health spectrum that has built momentum toward bridging the gaps. She has gone on the
record as an advocate for change.
My coaching and training approach considers a variety of factors that affect the individual. My focus is on looking at patterns that may be affecting the quality of one’s life and providing a guided journey to the change one seeks. I believe incremental changes can add up to considerable, meaningful, and substantial outcomes over time.
